A Martial Arts Academy Built for Every Body
Winding Path Martial Arts Academy was created with a simple belief: everyone deserves a place to move, learn, and grow without fear of judgment. Our academy is designed for youth, teens, and adults of all backgrounds — neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, and neurotypical students alike.
Training here isn’t about perfection. It’s about progress, confidence, and community. Every class is structured, predictable, and beginner‑friendly, with coaching that adapts to the needs of each student.
This is martial arts taught with empathy, clarity, and respect, embracing all of the different journeys our students find themselves on.
Meet Our Head Coach Scott Estes
After nearly 30 years in the IT industry, Coach Scott made the decision to build a martial arts academy shaped by the values he wished he had experienced growing up: safety, inclusion, structure, and genuine respect for every student. His coaching style is informed by decades of mentoring diverse teams, problem‑solving under pressure, and supporting people with a wide range of communication and learning needs.
As an AUDHD individual himself, he brings a lived understanding of sensory needs, predictability, and clear communication. He specialises in creating structured, calm, and supportive training environments where students know what to expect and can progress at their own pace.
His teaching approach is grounded in three principles:
Every student deserves to feel safe and welcome
Every body and every brain can learn martial arts
Progress is personal, not competitive
Whether working with youth, teens, or adults, his goal is simple: help each student feel capable, confident, and proud of their martial arts journey — no matter their starting point.
